As someone who actually has to deal with multiple states and their varying tax rates with a small business with no permanent shop front that travels to different events – taxes aren’t included in the price for a small business that travels because different states have different tax rates, and I am not bloody redoing all the damned tags four times in a month for four different events in four different states (or, worse, in different places in the same state that have different local tax rates).
Now. Stores with permanent shop fronts? Do not have that excuse. Because, damnit, see also how gas is priced. If gas station chains that span the fucking lower 48 can manage to have the taxes rolled into the price at the pump, so can a damned shop front.
*takes a deep breath* Anyway. Sales tax in this country is a fucking pain in the ass, I hate dealing with the various tax rates, and California can go suck hot flaming rocks because I can’t even go from one part of the state to another and expect a stable tax rate. Also, any state that has a fraction of a percent in its tax rate can do likewise, because fuck that math, I hate it.
(On the other hand, at least I can put the damned number into Square, and it will do the math for me these days. There would be more screaming otherwise.)

I’ve had an awesome week, got a LOT done, and managed to get my attendance back to 100% even after having a migrane wipe me out on Tuesday. (I’m fine now, it was a combination of the weather changing and stress.)
First: A MASSIVE THANK YOU to the people who donated to my cause last week. Y’all kept my butt covered, literally! I found what I needed at the wal-mart, only a touch over what I hoped to spend. It’s worth it, since these should last me at LEAST three months.
Second: An ENORMOUS hug for everyone who has signal boosted so far! That’s the real reason I’ve been getting to and from school every day. Y’all keep me upright and moving. It’s not extravagant, it’s not every day, but by all the stars at once, y’all have been my angels.
NOW: Week Five is starting. I’m both excited as heck and dreading it. Mostly because my bank account is sitting at a rather eeky 3$usd. I’ve got enough on my metro card for Monday and that’s IT!
This weeks goal is just 50$ total. That buys me metro fare and sandwiches at school. I’ve got the other necessities covered right now, and this STILL does not include rent. My landlord is a SAINT and isn’t charging me rent or giving me grief for having 14 hour days three days a week. I love this guy y’all and I can’t wait to be able to pay him back. As always, anything raised above my goal goes towards rent.

Some news! Tomorrow 4/30/2018, there’s a career fair at school. As of this post, I’m touching up my hair color (never throw away partly used bottles if you can help it! Rainy day touchups are great for handling things like career fairs.) And I’m hoping to get my hands on something easy, like a Dry Bar gig. I can do blowouts ALL day. BUT this is still not a guarantee. We’ve got twenty people, and last year only FIVE were hired anywhere close to their home.

*shakes fist at their genetics* I wanna go back outside and do more gardening, and if I do that I’m going to burn if I don’t put on sleeves (the sunscreen I can use is too expensive for me to slather it all over bare arms just so I can stay out another couple of hours).
Anyway.
More bricks in the ground, the first round of harvest for the orange mint accomplished (it’s a happy little mint attempting to invade the yard outside the garden, and I got a small but not negligable harvest off it while cutting back what was in the way of putting in the garden edge).
The catnip is a happy little shrub of a mint, the orange mint has laid claim to pretty much every inch of it’s allotted space, and the lemon balm is happily spreading itself out for its third year (maybe this year I’ll get a small harvest off it).
The oregano seems to be not entirely sure what to do with itself around the ground ivy and dandelions I’ve got to get out of it’s space, and the peppermint is poking its head up but staying fairly clustered in one spot at the moment.
One strawberry is a very happy plant that’s making rude gestures at everything trying to invade its space. One has spawned and while not a vigorously large plant, is a very stubborn one. The third one I have to weed around and hope isn’t dead. (I did weed earlier in the spring to keep anything from crowding it out, but I’m not sure that was enough.)
More bricks to go in the ground later this afternoon, provided there is no light show (rain, ok, I can work in the rain with the predicted temperatures. Lightning and thunder? NOPE). And weeding around the peppermint as needed.
(There are a bunch of plants in my garden that I did not plant there. Some of them are weeds. Some of them are just pretty that I didn’t have to plant myself. And the only things I’m bothering with pulling are prickly/stinging, ground ivy, or too close to the plants I put in.)

of those rules are bullshit. Golpalott is a bit more complicated, but he mostly
natters on about Alchemy. Sirius almost dismisses his rot entirely until

to avoid that shit until his N.E.W.T. years, but no, his little brother wants
to become an Animagus! Sirius gets to bash his face into a book because Golpalott
doesn’t know how to write things down in simple terms. It takes the arsehole
five pages to explain a concept that can be boiled down into one sentence.
