For winter. Winter and spring can be very harmful to cattle left out without shelter, especially spring when it can be cold and wet.
My grandpa actually tries to keep his herd inside the barn till the rainiest part of spring is over so he doesn’t loose any calves. Cows always seem to calf in the worst weather possible, and rain and cold can really damage a newborn.
Also it’s worth noting that cows are adorable losers and will get super excited at most changes in scenery/environment.

but life is too short to only do synapsids
