I think it’s really important to understand when someone says “Voting for Trump is going to kill people” they don’t mean that as soon as he’s sworn in, we’ll suddenly be transported into 1930s Europe with the gestapo coming around to round up the “Bad People” so they can be categorized and placed in the proper ghetto/camp.

(Though there are some people who are afraid that four years later, that’s where we might be, and I don’t blame them.)

Do you remember that article about England’s new disability laws that suddenly declared a large chunk of people capable of work based on absolutely no medical recommendation at all? And how six months later the suicide rates had spiked within that community?

That’s what we mean. Slowly, all of the things society has put into place to help people will dry up. Disability allowances, at risk teen hotlines and programs, pre natal care for the poor, all of those things that quite frankly barely make a drop in the budget but still manage to save lives will start to dry up. Right around the time an inevitable rise in violent hate crimes and non violent denials of human rights (worse than it is now) and slowly, ever so slowly, you will stop being able to talk about things.

And we will die. Either through neglect or our own hands. But we WILL die. And you won’t know it because no one will talk about it. One day you’ll look up and there will be another hole where an entire generation has been ripped away from life for no other reason than being who they were.

by “colleges should be more accommodating of students with mental illnesses” i don’t mean “lol let’s all never do our hw and not set any goals whatsoever fuk education” i mean “let’s try to actively cultivate an environment that doesn’t make students feel like failures and is hostile to students who can’t sacrifice their mental and physical health and work at 100% capacity with no sleep or time for personal happiness” and “let’s not act like productivity is what makes you a worthwhile human being”

i keep seeing comments/tags/post lately about how fic authors should always try to respond to comments to show love and appreciation to their fans, and i just wanted to take a moment to shout out to all those authors who can’t do that, whether due to other commitments, limited time online, or any number of mental or physical reasons that make it hard to reply. and i fucking hate this ‘it only takes two minutes’ and ‘it isn’t hard to reply to reviews’ mentality. you don’t have a clue HOW fucking difficult it can be for some people.

the great fandom secret is that no one is actually entitled to your time – and as much as we writers thrive on feedback and appreciation, please also remember to look after yourself, and put yourself first ♥

ay can we stop pretending like ADHD isn’t a Real Mental Health Issue and is Easy To Deal With? it’s a hugely detrimental disorder that effects performance in school and at work, and personal relationships on multiple levels. with ADHD it’s difficult to implement the routines necessary for day to day functioning. maybe educate yourself before criticizing a disorder that’s very fucking hard to live with.

for those unaware, I’ve been told by several friends they didn’t know this, adhd can effect basic survival rituals. Adhd makes sleep nearly impossible most of the time, makes cooking a too long task which c a n easily lead to a microwave diet, it makes basic reading and comprehension without interest physically exhausting (FYI that means us adults with adhd are fucked) and can even cause major, drastic mood swings as our energy plummets and skyrockets sometimes even resulting in straight up manic episodes. ADHD & ADD are very serious and real stop acting like they’re not a big deal.

Also: ADD isn’t a diagnosis anymore. They’ve made ADHD into three categories now, which are: innatentive, hyperactive-impulsive, and combination.

Some of the greatest wisdom I’ve ever seen coming from an avocado twitter. 2016 is a real mind fuck.

We are used to ignoring our own bodies. “These carrots are too spicy” we complained as a child, only to be told no, they were sweet, that the music wasn’t too loud, nobody can hear lights, what you are experiencing is invalid. We heard: you are invalid. You do not experience the world the same way as everyone else, and therefore, your experience is wrong. You learn to ignore the ever-present pain because nothing can be done about it, but then you have a kidney infection and others get mad at you for not noticing sooner. But why should you trust your body when it is always wrong?
