Where polyamory gets it right, in my book, is when jealousy is accepted as just an emotion with no moral imperative, and it is embraced as an opportunity to identify, express, and meet one’s own needs better. Those needs can range from wanting to have more time with a partner, or more sex, or more help with kids, and so on.

RAVENCLAW: “If you wish to know how much preferable wisdom is to gold, then observe: if you change gold you get silver for it, but your gold is gone; but if you exchange one sort of wisdom for another, you obtain fresh knowledge, and at the same time keep what you possessed before.” –The Talmud

“It’s good advice, Chris.”

“I know it! I try to follow it. I don’t always succeed.”

“Well, you’re young yet. You haven’t run out of fucks yet.”

“When will that happen?”

“It varies. I think for me I was like seventeen. For you, you’ll probably be in your fifties.”

“I do have a lot of fucks to give.”

“I know. It’s endearing, and also sad.”

Was playing around with the sketchbook app on my tablet. Discovered a couple cool effects by accident (the best way). Discovered another interesting effect sorta on purpose (it did what I was aiming for in the end so it totally counts)
Decided to use it with a quote from @deadcatwithaflamethrower because I have had this idea in my head for months and no way to make it happen properly. It is now better than originally planned. Even with my crappy handwriting for anything other than caps

YEP, KEEPING IT.

Being white means never having to think about it.

If someone comes to you and asks your help, you shall not turn him off with pious words, saying, “Have faith and take your troubles to God!” You shall act as if there were no God, as if there were only one person in all the world who could help this man–only yourself.

—Rabbi Moshe Leib of Sassov (via shiraglassman)

You don’t expect to hear a rabbi say “act as if there were no God” and mean not “do whatever you feel like doing” but “recognize that the ultimate responsibility for doing good in the world lies with you.”  I kind of love this.

#religion #… I mean if anyone were going to say ‘act as if there were no god’ to mean ‘it’s all on you mate’ #it would be a rabbi (via thetrollingchaos)

“Pray as if everything depended on God, and act as if everything depended on yourself.”

or as my mom says, “God has no hands but ours.”

All [that’s to happen] is known, and permission [for human persons to change that] is given. Judaism’s really not big on waiting for God to show up – we expect Them to, but it’s the way your mom expects you for dinner. God’d better show up – He promised – but in the meantime, we have work to do.
