This is one of the most telling moments for Obi-Wan’s character for two reasons:
1. It’s something of a running theme that Obi-Wan would leave the Jedi Order if he felt the reason was important enough. 2. Obi-Wan knew exactly how he felt about Satine and how he would have responded if she’d asked him to leave the Jedi to be with her.
This is not someone who was in denial about his feelings or thought that they didn’t have their place on certain paths in life. This is someone who held back because he is pretty relentless about maintaining boundaries–he will not push her if she doesn’t feel the same way, he’ll wait for her to be ready before he moves forward.
This is how he approaches Anakin as well–he maintains what he thinks are necessary boundaries, he doesn’t push Anakin before he’s ready (trying to respect Anakin’s boundaries, too), he waits for Anakin to come to him, to be ready to talk about what’s troubling him. He waits for Satine to say the word, because he wants to respect her boundaries as well, he wants for her to be ready to say them, and I don’t think he realizes just how distant he comes off.
And that’s the thing that kills me about Obi-Wan–he feels things so genuinely and truly, but his words and gestures are so understated that they don’t always come across as clearly as he thinks they do. With someone other than Anakin, this might have been the healthy thing to do, to wait for them to be ready–it’s just that Anakin interprets it as Obi-Wan not caring, when that’s not the case at all, it’s that Obi-Wan absolutely and truly does care about Anakin that makes him so immovable in respecting what he sees as necessary boundaries for Anakin.
(To be fair to Satine, though, how could she have asked him that? To leave his entire way of life, his home, his culture, his people? How could she possibly have asked that of him without him offering it first?)

When Bucky Barnes is sent to kill the Starks, he does so easily until he sees their baby son in the back seat. Unable to kill him, he escapes with the child.
Living a life on the run, Bucky slowly breaks out of his Hydra conditioning and raises the boy as his own. As Tony grows, their bond only grows stronger, even as Bucky stops ageing.
on the subject of Humans Are Space Orcs i keep thinking it would be funny if ‘pursuit predator’ humans got together with an ‘ambush predator’ feliform species. and like. humans enjoy walking around with their friends! and the feliforms enjoy huddling in a concealed location with their friends! and it takes all of half an hour for a human to pick up a scarf and make a sling to take their pal with them while they go grab some lunch.
our new friends are like ‘are you sure this isn’t an inconvenience’ and the humans are like ‘are you kidding we do this with terran cats whether they like it or not’
also the team-up of humans and the feliform species gives most herbivore species in the galaxy screaming nightmares because here is a mobile tower that will follow you for 16 hours straight and it’s carrying a bag full of sneaky murder like it’s a baby this is not okay
lemme tell you i am so fucking tired of angsty vampires. its enough.
give me a newly-turned twenty-something vampire who hears about their newfound immortality and is like “thank god,” then proceeds to invest in some promising startups and fucks off to take a nap for two decades
give me a vampire thats only the tiniest bit phased at the blood diet because “eh, i tried paleo a while back and it was just as weird”
give me a vampire with self image issues who never has to avoid mirrors again because – bingo – no reflection
give me a genderqueer vampire who finally has an answer when someone asks their gender. “are you a boy or a girl?” “i am a vampire.” “but whats in your pants?” “fangs.”
best of all, give me a vampire chick who is so stoked about being nocturnal because she’s never been able to walk alone after dark before and it’s nice to be able to walk her friends home and know theyre all safe with her
