When you post that you cannot get out of bed because of pain, I (pls don’t take this badly) get amused in a gallows humor kinda way. You see, in the mornings I get forced out of bed before I want to get up because I am in pain and standing helps. We’re kinda opposites.

*offers you a hug* Either way, it sucks being in pain, and I hope you’re able to get a doctor who listens to you and is willing to prescribe you pain meds that allow you to be able to stay in bed as long as you want to.

I read a small snippet of a fic a while ago where Obi Wan was around 12 during TPM and ended up fighting Maul on Naboo instead of Qui Gon. There were only one or two chapters when I read it and now I can’t find it but it sounds right up your ally so I was wondering if you knew what I was talking about?

letslipthehounds:

obaewankenope:

That is literally- I just-_Why_ would you tell me this nonnie? I’m literally hurting because there’s no way a 12yo can beat Maul in a fight and now I feel hurt. Omg _someone hold me_

@morgynleri, isn’t this one of your stories?

That sounds like Refraction, yes. And @obaewankenope, I promise Obi-Wan isn’t dead. Anything beyond that is spoilers, when I get more of it done, but he does live. I have plans for him.

(To be accurate, Obi-Wan is 13 or 14 in Refraction – it’s just after the mess with Xanatos and the bomb in the Temple in this AU.)

23 and 22 ( if you’ll do two) for Obi-Wan

For this set of prompts, or see this list of completed/available ones.

AU: Their Name Is Death

Broken

The Jetiise say he has broken under the pressure – the torture – the Mandalorians brought to bear on him. That he has Fallen, that he is deranged. That everything he does is because he is a Dark Sider who wants nothing more than the destruction of every ideal the Republic holds dear.

In a way, they are right about the last, at least. He does want to destroy the Republic, and the Jetiise with it. Tear down the structures that rip people and families apart and build something better in their place. And maybe then he will find a little peace.

Alone

He is never alone, here. Not the ever-present Force, not the suffocating blanket the Jetiise called the binding of the universe. Though there is something like it, if more free and light than anything he can recall from before.

No, it is not his only comfort, not here. There is always someone. Satine’s hand on his, Jango pressing a shoulder against him, Rex cleaning blasters or armor, Cody going over reports from Sabé, Bo-Katan writing her reports from the front. Anakin, sitting at his feet and attempting to meditate, safe now from the Jetiise, full of a new-freed slave’s rage.

31 + 38 (if you’ll do two) Doctor Julian Bashir ( if you don’t know him then Anakin Skywalker or Obi-Wan Kenobi)

Written for this set of prompts. (List of completed ones. I am still taking more.)

(Julian Bashir is only one of my favorite characters from DS9. And I adore having the chance to write him, especially since it’s sparked stuff for the AU that was created for a title prompt.)

AU: Burning Bridges

Fear

“There. Satisfied, Doctor?”

Julian looks in the mirror provided to him, ignoring the small thrill of fear that goes down his spine when he sees the work that has been done. He even feels different, nerves and organs tweaked and prodded as much as they had been when he was seven, if for a very different purpose.

“You do excellent work.”

A quiet snort comes from behind him. “Tell Garak I owe him nothing.”

“I will.” Julian inclines his head the angle and depth he’s learned is correct. “What do I owe you?”

“Survive, and don’t make my work pointless.”

Secrets

Of all the secrets in her head, the one Aerit Milar knows her new rulers would want the most is the original identity of one Suroi Bajil. If they ever discover the doctor had any other identity. Certainly the Bureau of Identification won’t be able to give them any clue otherwise.

Julian – he must think of himself as Suroi now – knows there are secrets in his head the Dominion will want, as they had before. If they ever find out he was not born as the Cardassian all believe him to be. And so, he must never be found out.

I loved Darkness in the Light: Refraction Part 1. I was curious if there was ever going to be a part 2. Thanks for the wonderful fic either way.

There is supposed to be a part 2 and beyond that as well. Just. Life happens, and between more high-pain days than not, more bad brain weasel days than not, and deadlines on other things, I’ve not managed to get past where the next part is stuck at.

I don’t know when I’ll get the next part out. I can’t promise a timeframe for any of my WIPs being updated, just that unless I mark them as complete/abandoned, there’s always a hope, no matter how slim it might seem, that I will go “THIS! This is what I’m missing, and how to make this go forward.” and update a fic or AU.

I’m glad you enjoyed the first part, though! 🙂

where did you learn to write so well?

I’ve been reading for thirty years, anything I could get my hands on. Novels, non-fiction, encyclopedias, fanfiction, the info charts on the walls of the doctor’s office or the vet’s office, magazines, billboards, anything. Looking at how other people put words together to try to convey what they want to say, to convince people to get things and services and accept ideas.

And twenty years of writing pretty much everything that came into my head. The earlier stuff is absolute trash compared to what I write now. Embarrassing, horrible, I’m-glad-I-can’t-find-it-anymore trash.

There are times when I can’t write, and then I take a break and do other things. Like right now, I’m not writing a lot, but I have a blanket I’m working on, and I’m rewatching DS9. And trying to manage cleaning up the apartment I live in (that the previous tenant, my brother, left with a half-renovated room – finishe now, mostly – and a mess of stuff he couldn’t be arsed to find somewhere else to store).

And that’s the thing. While I could never stop writing, sometimes I need to not write stories for a few days or weeks, and most of what I write then is notes and blog posts and responses to other posts. Let my brain take a rest, because creativity needs down time. It frustrates me, but it means I can come back to things and find the enthusiasm again, rather than trying to plod through even the parts I want to write and losing the desire even to look at it.

hi! im the original anon for the sith template au. Sorry bout the prompt thing, and yeah you do have plenty of plunnies around. Would also love to see them too! :D

It’s ok! I don’t know if you noticed, but that did spark a story for someone who follows me – @theotherguysride wrote a lovely piece for it.

And I never mind having prompts for stories or AU world-building show up, though I can’t promise to do something with them. 🙂

I had a meltdown because of sensory overload on Monday, and spent the rest of Monday and all of yesterday pretty fried because of it, and everything was overwhelming. Today is starting out better, so hopefully I will be able to do something to wrestle with the massive list of WIPs I have. Or at least the list of all my stories, which probably runs into four figures when I include all the unposted stuff.

Was struck by a sudden idea I wanted to share since the foundation of the Jedi temple is an old Sith Shrine. Initiate rejects with potential too good to waste are taken to the lower levels to become sith protectors of the republic. Only the council (and shadows) know. Imagine Obi-Wan taken there instead :)

This could be a fascinating AU, and right now, I’m drowning in plot bunnies, and also have been too fried today to even manage the things I need to work on because deadlines. I wish I had the spoons to do it justice, but right now I don’t. I shall keep this in mind to poke at later, when there are more spoons.

I absolutely love this! It was so exciting to see everything fall into place with Obi-Wan’s dark intentions behind it all. I was at the edge of my seat the whole time while thinking, man Obi-Wan really could have fallen. Everything fits so perfectly! This is perfect and so well done, thank you for sharing.

Thank you! I will admit to having ANH on in the background to make sure things didn’t stray too far once they hit canon, and lifting dialogue wholesale from the movie in places, even if what is written around the dialogue is entirely interpretation and changes from canon. Especially since this is supposed to closely parallel canon up to a point.

I hope to have more soon, but I make no promises about exactly when, especially with my AU count and my habit of bouncing between them.

Ow, my heart. This is really interesting! And not to mention heart breaking

Thank you!

anonymous asked:

… Why is Qui-Gon going along with Fallen Obi-Wan’s plans?

Because Qui-Gon loves Obi-Wan more than he’d ever have admitted in life (and I’m not talking about romantic love, though there may have been some of that toward the end), or is necessarily ready to admit even now.

Because Qui-Gon feels guilt over the pain he caused Obi-Wan.

Because he’s watched Obi-Wan struggle to cope with grief and loss – and fail to cope – over far too long, and he knows that rejecting Obi-Wan now will do more harm than good. (He did learn something from Xanatos’s death, even if it took decades longer than he likes to have done so.)

Because he knows Obi-Wan will still carry out those plans even if he doesn’t help, and there will be greater death and destruction if there’s no one to try to soften the blows.

Because he’s spent 30+ years immersed in the Force as the Force grows darker and darker, and there’s no way to prevent that from effecting him to lesser or greater extent.

It’s hard to see any of that when the story is written from Obi-Wan’s POV, and Obi-Wan has perfected the ability to strategically not see what’s right in front of his face, after almost a decade and a half of dealing with Anakin.
